1. The Society shall be called the St Peter and St Paul Golfing Society.
It shall be open to parishioners and others from the neighbouring
parishes with Honorary Life Members, Honorary Members and Associate
Members.
2. The objects of the
Society are to bring together golfing members of the Catholic Community
to compete for trophies presented to the society, to create a better
social life for it's members, to benefit deserving causes and to
play matches against other Societies and Clubs.
3. The annual subscription
and entrance fee shall be approved annually at the Annual General
Meeting of the Society payable in advance and due on the 1st March
and must be paid before competing for any of the trophies. Any member
whose subscription is unpaid on 31st March shall cease to be a member
and his or her name shall be erased from the records of the Society,
but may be reinstated at the discretion of the Committee on payment
of the arrears.
4. Membership will be
open to people who are associated with the Lincoln Catholic Deanery.
The Society shall be empowered to elect in general meetings Honorary
Life Members, Honorary Members and Associate Members. Candidates
for membership must be proposed by one member and seconded by another.
Both proposer and seconder
must have held membership for a minimum of one year. The election
shall he vested solely in the Committee, four members to form a
quorum.
5. The Management of
the Society shall consist of The President, The Chairman, The Captain,
The Honorary Secretary / Treasurer, the Vice Captain and 1 other
committee member, one of whom plus the Captain shall retire annually
by rotation and in order of seniority and shall not be eligible
for re-election for a period of less than one year from the date
of the A-G-M. In the case of equal seniority the Committee shall
determine the order of retirement.
6. The Annual General
Meeting of the Society for the transaction of ordinary business
and for the election of officers and Committee shall he held in
February each year.
7. Any nomination for
President, Chairman, Captain, officers and members of the Committee
shall have a proposer and a seconder and shall reach the secretary
within 14 clear days of the date of the A.G.M.
8. The notice convening
the annual general meeting shall be forwarded to all members within
21 clear days of the date, together with a statement of accounts.
9. The Committee meetings
shall be called at the discretion of the President, Captain, Chairman
or Honorary Secretary .The Honorary Secretary shall take correct
minutes of all meetings and a copy shall be sent to all members
of the Committee as soon as possible after the date of the meeting.
10. All trophies are the property of the Society and are perpetual
trophies. They can only be held for one year and each year the holders
name will be inscribed on the plinth by the Society. The holders
must deliver up the trophies each year before or on the date of
the appropriate competition. The holders of the trophies shall be
responsible for the insurance of the same.
No competitor shall win
more than one prize in any one competition or combination of competitors
based on the same scorecard for any one round.
11. Each member entering
for a competition shall acquaint the Honorary Secretary of his/her
handicap and in the event of being a member of more than one club
the lowest handicap must be stated. The committee has power to adjust
the handicap of any member playing in a competition and members
of the committee present shall deal with any dispute that may arise
on the day of the competition and their decision shall be final.
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed winners in any competition shall be
handicapped by 3, 2, and 1 strokes respectively in subsequent competitions.
12. The committee shall
have power to make regulation and By-laws in accordance with these
rules and to settle disputed points not otherwise provided for by
these rules.
13. These rules shall
not be altered in any way unless at an extraordinary general meeting
which must be convened for that purpose. The notice convening the
meeting shall be sent to all members within 21 days of the meeting
detailing motions to be discussed.
14. All competitions
shall be played in accordance with the rules of the Royal and Ancient
Golf Club of St Andrews. Any unbecoming behaviour on or off the
course shall be the subject of a disciplinary procedure by the committee.
15. Individual prizes
must not exceed the retail value of £110 or as amended from
time to time by the R & A.
